Who are we?
We are The Mighty Maroubra Missiles your local Junior Rugby Union Club.
Our home ground is Nagle Park where we train on Wednesdays from 5pm until 6pm. For our mini's U6 - U9 this is where you will play on a Saturday morning normally commencing around 8.30am for the younger kids until around 12.30pm for our U9's. Our older kids U10 to U12 play on Friday nights under lights. This is at various venues across the eastern and south eastern suburbs.
The Sydney Junior Rugby Union (SJRU) has divided the junior rugby clubs into 12 districts across the metropolitan area of Sydney. Maroubra Missiles are part of the Randwick district which along with the other village clubs of the area, feeds into the "Galloping Greens" at senior level - Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club
As a community club we're wholly run by volunteers and rely on our passionate parental assistance to maintain operations.
We welcome all boys and girls from U6's to U12's to our village club
Our History
The Maroubra Rugby Club has a rich history that began with the establishment of an Under 8 team.
In 1999, the inaugural team was formed under the name Eastgardens, with enthusiastic young players from La Perouse, Banksmeadow, Malabar, Botany, Mascot, and Maroubra Junction Public schools, coached by the founder, Jim Dubos.
One of Jim’s generous friends donated money for two sets of jumpers, and another connection led to Classic Jumpers manufacturers, who provided leftover bright green and yellow material at a low cost, which became the team's iconic colours.
The team quickly found success, making it to the Under 9 grand final in 2000, though they narrowly lost to South Coogee.
By 2003, the club had formalised its structure by electing its first committee, with Paul Duffy serving as President and Theo Theol as Treasurer. A year or two later, Ashley Swartz succeeded Paul as President, continuing the club's development and fostering a strong community spirit.
In 2013 the club would take on its current name and iconic red, black and white colours!
